How to choose the right cake board
1) Choose the right size
Select a board that is 5–10 cm wider than your cake. This gives you space to lift safely and creates a neat visual border around the cake.
2) Match the thickness to the cake weight
Light, single-layer cakes can sit on thinner boards. Heavier, multi-layer or stacked cakes need thicker, stronger boards (often called drum boards) to prevent bending.
3) Round or square?
Round boards suit classic and modern designs. Square boards give a contemporary, bold look and work well for modern or themed cakes.
